The first official White House car was the 1909 White Steamer and it was ordered by President Howard Taft and cost $12,000. Though Taft had the first White House car, the very first President to have a ride in a car was President William McKinley in 1899. And President Theodore Roosevelt was the first president to ride in airplane though he had already left office by then.
